"By reimagining the high school learning experience, we create a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and innovation. This approach empowers students to become the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, and change-makers."
Greetings IYC Students, Families, and Staff!
Welcome to Iovine and Young Center Integrated Design, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Magnet! At IYC, we are committed to transforming the high school experience through an innovative educational model that fuses a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum with real-world, team-based learning opportunities. We partner with industry leaders, to provide access to state-of-the-art technologies and immersive learning experiences, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for success in competitive universities and diverse careers. Our mission is to cultivate a learning environment where every student is engaged, inspired, and empowered to reach their full academic, creative, and unique potential. As we approach the end of our second year since opening, we believe we are doing just that!
At regular intervals, students at all grade levels have had opportunities to connect with industry professionals to receive feedback on their pitches, products, and innovations. Among those have been designers, product developers, architects, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, urban planners, and more. Students in the 11th grade cohort completed their first Industry Lab experience in partnership with designers from Mattel and mentors from the Iovine and Young Academy. Students were tasked with creating an innovation and product plan to solve a problem for a target audience as defined by their client. The Industry Lab culminated with students presenting a physical working prototype of their toy innovation, product plan and a pitch including their research and innovation.
Since our opening in Fall of 2022, we have successfully obtained our WASC accreditation which validates our rigorous instructional program and confirms our commitment, and competence to support high-quality student learning and ongoing school improvement”. Additionally, early indicators show our student achievement and attendance rates are well above average. Parents report their students are much more engaged in their learning as compared to previous years.
As a community of learners, educators, and partners, we are encouraging students to explore their passions, take risks, and make meaningful contributions to society. Our mission: engage, inspire, and empower students to reach their fullest potential. Together, let's pioneer the future of education!
